With the release of the much awaited final rule on ACOs, healthcare providers are moving rapidly to implement the processes and systems needed to meet the requirements of accountable care. ACOs will take on a significant amount of risk, and IT systems can help ACOs to manage that risk.
In conversations we have had with multiple healthcare providers, it is clear that many of these organizations will benefit from a better understanding of the technological capabilities that can help them meet the requirements of accountable care. This paper will walk you through a number of scenarios and technology capabilities, which will be beneficial when conducting IT evaluations and making decisions for your ACO.
- Part one of this series focuses on the implications of the final ACO rule and the possible challenges faced by ACOs.
- Part two dives into the possibilities of how ACOs can meet requirements, such as promotion of evidence based medicine, promotion of patient engagement, reporting on cost and quality metrics and Care Coordination.
- The series concludes with a discussion on IT capabilities, risks and factors that help an ACO select the right IT infrastructure.
